OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2013. The Directorate of Railway Stations, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, has presented the first seven projects it has implemented under a cooperation agreement between Russian Railways and Moscow's city government signed on 11 November 2011 and which provides for the construction of 57 transport hubs in Russia's capital. The project is being implemented by the Directorate of Railway Stations.

The presentation took place at the transport hub at Domodedovo metro station in the presence of Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The park and ride facilities at the Domodedovo transport hubs (two sites), Tsaritsyno, Yasenevo, Dmitry Donskoy Boulevard, Lianozovo and Bibirevo have a total capacity of 1,086 motor vehicles.

During the presentation, Sergei Abramov, head of the Directorate of Railway Stations, informed Mayor Sobyanin that the work to improve and construct the transport hubs is being financed by third-party investment. More than 500 million roubles were attracted in 2012, with plans to raise up to 5 billion roubles in 2013. Abramov said that the transport hubs programme was aimed at creating convenient conditions for changing from one form of transport to another and providing parking spaces.

In particular, at the Domodedovo transport hub, provision has been made for parking for 350 cars and the appropriate facilities put in place for physically challenged people. In addition, customers can use train tickets to make automatic payments for parking their cars.

The transport hub has a control centre where customers can purchase tickets for the underground, the rail-air express and suburban commuter trains, as well as make payments (including for utilities) and use the toilets and vending machines provided.

The hub also has equipment to monitor developments and transfer information in real time to a single situation centre. Automation enables the monitoring and management of the parking spaces and provide Wi-Fi Internet access.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin highly praised the work done, noting that this year 150 transport hubs were due to be built in the capital.
