OREANDA-NEWS. Over the past five days, the Hefei Xinqiao International Airport in East China's Anhui province has handled 725 flights carrying 74,915 passengers in total, the airport authorities said on Tuesday.

Located in Gaoliu Town of Feixi County, 31.8 kilometers away from the center of the provincial capital: Hefei, the airport has replaced Luogang International Airport as Hefei's main airport since May 30.

Although the new airport is much further from the downtown than the old one used to be, it received about the same number of visits as the latter during the recent five days, said the Anhui Civil Aviation Airport Group Co.

Starting in mid-June, the airport will launch more flights, such as a chartered tourist flight to Boracay of the Philippines from June 19 plus domestic flights to Yiwu of Zhejiang province and to Fuzhou of Fujian province from around June 25, according to an airport source.
