OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has published a rating of mobile devices registered in the company’s network. Over 1H13, the share of simple mobile phones dropped 2 ppt to 69%. Smartphones are growing in popularity – around 18% of Tele2 subscribers use these devices.

Growing interest to smartphones is mostly triggered by Android popularity and affordability of Android-operated devices. Over 46% of all Tele2 smartphone owners chose Andoid-supported smartphones. Since the beginning of 2013, the share of Symbian-operated devices decreased 10 ppt and totaled 35%.

Based on 1H13 results, Tele2 network counts around 70% cellphones and smartphones that support data services. The number of Internet users through the operator’s network exceeds 40%.

Despite the growing popularity of smartphones, most mobile devices in the Tele2 network are low-cost cellphones. Samsung E1080 is ranked first in the top 5, it is then followed by Nokia devices (Nokia 1280, Nokia X1-01, Nokia 1616). The fifth place in the rating is taken by Samsung E1200.

Most popular mobile producers are still Nokia and Samsung that account for over 70% devices in the Tele2 network. At the same time, Nokia asserted its leadership and stretched its lead leaving Samsung behind. This can be explained by popularity of Nokia products among Dual SIM devices.

Since the beginning of January, Tele2 registered around 16% (growth by 4 ppt) of mobile devices that hold several SIM cards. Despite a 5-ppt drop in their share since the beginning of the year, over 39% of Dual SIM devices are manufactured by Samsung. It is worth mentioning that a launch of a new X series let Nokia strengthen its stance on the market of devices that hold more than one SIM card. In 1H13, the share of Dual SIM devices by Nokia totaled 29%.
