OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Iurie LEANCA asked the Competition Council, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), the Economics Ministry and the Finance Ministry to quickly assess the situation on the Moldovan oil market. The request comes after at least one oil company increased the diesel oil and liquefied petroleum gas prices on 15 October.

“Since early this year, the oil prices on the international stock markets varied not necessarily upwards. There were moments when they fell quite low. I do not know how it is that back then I did not see any adjustment to this decline, and now that the price has slightly increased, and the currency exchange increased too, we immediately notice a rapid jump in pump prices. The reason is that we have small stocks. We need to evaluate more parameters of the work of these companies and I hope that you will soon come up with suggestions by closely communicating with these oil companies, “said the Prime minister.

“We need solutions. We are aiming at European integration, but we must apply certain standards that are applied in the concerned countries, beginning with taxes and ending with company's profitability”, said Iurie LEANCA.

Some filling stations displayed higher prices, by about 0.80 lei per litre for liquefied gas and 0.70 lei for a litre of diesel, on 15 October.
