OREANDA-NEWS. Anhui's electricity consumption, an indicator of economic activity, rose 12.67 percent year-on-year in the first ten months, ranking first in the Central China region, official data showed on Monday.

The growth was higher than the rise of 10.77 percent for the same period last year, according to the Anhui Provincial Commission of Economy and Informatization.

From January to October, the primary sector's power consumption reached 1.4 billion kilowatt hours (kwh), up 13.9 percent from the same period a year ago. The rise was lower than last year's 15.7 percent.

During the same period, the secondary sector consumed 87.9 billion kwh of electricity, up 11.2 percent year-on-year, while total power consumption by the service industry increased 18 percent year-on-year to 14.9 billion kwh.

Urban and rural residents in the province used 22.1 billion kwh of power, up 15.3 percent from a year earlier.

The province's economic growth was in line with its power consumption during the Jan-Oct period. It ranked first in Central China and second in the country, whether by the rise for the period or in terms of October’ s growth rate. During the first ten months, industrial value-added output amounted to 688.9 billion yuan, up 13.7 percent year-on-year. Such a rise was 4 percentage points higher than the national average.
