OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2014. Norilsk Nickel announces the start of its new charity program called World of New Opportunities.

The program aims to promote regional public initiatives and form favorable conditions for social and economic development of the Polar regions. World of New Opportunities is an example of social investments, which Norilsk Nickel prioritizes as part of its social policy.

Execution of NN’s new program will be guided by the following principles: priority to the regions where the Company operates, social partnership and social activity, competitive approach, transparency and accountability and effectiveness of supported programs and projects.  
World of New Opportunities prioritizes three major areas:

1. DEVELOPMENT. Support of the volunteer initiatives of active local community members, transfer of  new knowledge to program participants and contribution towards development of expert community in the region. The social partnership and development Academy will teach participants to develop social and business projects, apply innovative social technologies and asses projects and programs. Social initiatives, aimed to resolve issues in education, social security, culture, sports and ecology will in turn be supported by grants distributed to social projects, organizations and institutions within the region.

2. INNOVATIONS. Creation of a powerful technological platform for successful implementation of innovative technologies, expansion of research and development capabilities and engineering process. The program specifically aims to reveal future professional preferences among children and youth.

3. PARTNERSHIP. Getting socially responsible entrepreneurs and heads of small and medium sized businesses involved in alleviation of the region’s social issues through implementation of business projects. NN is ready to support any joint initiatives aimed to promote intersectional collaboration and social partnership in the Polar regions.

Geographic areas where the World of New Opportunities program will be implemented – Northern areas of Krasnoyarsk region, Norilsk and Taimyr Dolgano-Nenetsk Municipal District as well and Monchegorsk and Pechenga areas of Murmansk region.

Participants – active community members of the Polar regions, NGOs, government organizations, aspiring entrepreneurs and heads of small and medium sized businesses can all participate in the program.
