OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 10.3% on the year in January-July 2014 to 170 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 16.377 billion at the central bank's rate), an official with the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) told.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 81.2%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the rest.

Foodstuffs account for 49.7% of Belarus' total retail turnover, non-foods - 50.3%.

Foodstuffs sales to private households stand at Br84.4 trillion (USD 8.131 billion), up 6% year on year. Sales of non-foods grew 14.6% year on year to Br85.6 trillion (USD 8.246 billion).
