OREANDA-NEWS.  September 18, 2014. Due to Russia’s embargo on Moldovan wines, in the first half of 2014 Moldova’s wine exports to Russia fell 85.4% to USD3.7 million, Moldova’s Agriculture and Food Industry says.

In other words, only 7.3% of Moldovan wine exports were dispatched to Russia in January-June 2014 against 31.4% reported for the same period of 2013. At the same time, the share of Moldova in the structure of Belarus wine import grew to 34.8% in this period.

However, in the value terms, the wine exports to Belarus from Moldova shrank 17.4% to USD 17.6 million. In January-June 2014, Moldova also exported wines to Poland (USD 4.2 million, up 2.4%); Ukraine (USD 3.8 million, down 41.5%), Kazakhstan (USD 3.7 million, down 15.9%), the Czech Republic (USD 3.6 million, down 26.5%), Georgia (USD 2.9 million, down 19.4%), China (USD 2.1 million, up 16.7%) and Romania (USD 1.9 million, down 24%).

In the reporting period, Moldova exported 4801,5 thousand dal of grape wine at an amount of USD 50.6 million, down 37.4% in the value terms against the same period of 2013. To compare, in the same period of 2013, the wine exports amounted to 6897,9 thousand dal and to USD 80.9 million, up 23.3% as compared with the same period of 2012.
