OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2014. Over 9 months of 2014 insurance companies of Moldova collected premiums amounting to MDL 899.9 million, 3.3% up as compared with the same period of the past year.

Most of them were attributable to general insurance, making 93.9% (MDL 845.4 million), with the rest or 6.3% (MDL 36.13 million) collected in the life insurance field, the National Commission on Financial Market informs.

In the reporting period the general insurance premiums included 49% (MDL 414.45 million) of the motor vehicle liability premiums, with MDL 184 million of them being Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability premiums and MDL 210 million being Green Card premiums. CASCO premiums were 19.9% or MDL 168.47 million.

Against the same period of 2013, MTPL premiums grew 1.1%, the Green Card and CASCO premiums increasing 11.1% and 14.7% respectively. Over the first 9 months of 2014 insurers of Moldova attracted premiums of MDL 47.6 million to the fire and natural disasters insurance; MDL 51 million to the health insurance, including MDL 11.5 million to internal health insurance; MDL 44.6 million to air transport liability insurance; MDL 20.5 million to agricultural insurance; MDL 27.8 million to aircraft insurance, MDL 25.2 to general civil liability insurance; MDL 19.8 million to accident insurance, MDL 6.7 million to financial losses insurance, etc.

The best premium collectors were Moldasig – MDL 203.55 million (22.6%), Asito – MDL -149.6 million (16.6%), Donaris-Group – MDL 96.8 million (10.1%), Grawe Carat Asigurari – MDL 91.2 million (10.1%) and Moldcargo – 63.8 million (7.1%).

These five leaders collected 67.2% of all the premiums collected on Moldova's insurance market in the reporting period. Non-financial enterprises and households made up 41.3% and 42.6% of insurance companies’ clients in January-September 2014. Currently, the insurance market of Moldova is represented by 16 insurers.
