Huntsman adds Singapore polyetheramine capacity

OREANDA-NEWS. Huntsman will begin construction on a 25,000 t/yr expansion to double the capacity of its Singapore polyetheramine plant in the first half of 2015, The Woodlands, Texas-based manufacturer said today.

The \\$100mn expansion of the company's Jurong Island facility will bring the plant's total capacity to 50,000 t/yr. The project will also include backward integration to produce polyethers from locally sourced feedstocks.

Construction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2016.

The company has additional polyethyeramine plants in Conroe, Texas, and Llanelli, Wales. Expansion at the Jurong site is intended to address growing demand in the Asia market, which is expected to grow by 10pc per year.

Polyetheramines are used in the production of many products, including paint, adhesives and composites.
