OREANDA-NEWS. UK-based Morrisons supermarkets had an interesting dilemma: Business was great. They were serving more than 12 million customers each week, with 35 percent using cash. And with so many customers paying in cash, the UK's fourth-largest supermarket chain needed a solution that would allow them to focus more time and labour on customer service and less on cash-handling.

They turned to Volumatic and JCM Global who worked together to create and provide the CCi solution across Morrisons' 650 stores. The result? Using the CCi solution, Morrisons reduced labour costs, reduced forgeries and discrepancies, reduced cash office schedule and managing, and shifted more resources to focus on customer service instead of cash management.

When the installation was completed, every Morrisons checkout lane had a CCi unit, 12,000 in all, the largest single rollout of the Volumatic/JCM CCi unit. Over a year's time, Morrisons reduced costs associated with cash management by nearly ?5 million each year, and reduced cash management hours by 26 hours per store per week.

Volumatic Commercial Director James Harris said, "We are grateful to Morrisons for the trust they placed in Volumatic and JCM, and we could not be happier with the results Morrisons has achieved using our CCi unit. Our mission is to help retailers do business more efficiently, empowering them to refocus energies to customer service, and we are thrilled to have fulfilled on that mission so successfully at Morrisons."

JCM EMEA General Manager Payam Zadeh said, "We have analyzed retail cash use in many different types of retail situations, and we found some retailers touch their cash as many as 14 times in their cash process. With CCi you touch it just once. This means CCi streamlines retailers' cash handling processes to provide substantial operational and accounting efficiencies and also reducing shrink. The CCi is simply a better, smarter, faster way to do business."

The amazing CCi unit validates, counts and securely stores cash automatically, eliminating human error and stopping counterfeits. With CCi's automation, cash processing costs are reduced by an average of up to 75 percent per annum. The unit's software allows retailers to manage, monitor and maintain an estate of CCi units centrally, giving total visibility and control of all cash transactions down to till level across the entire business.
