OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2015. PeerTV plc (AIM:PTV), a provider of technology solutions for the OTT (TV over the internet) market and PCB (printed circuit board) production solutions, announces that  Speech Modules Holdings Limited (SMHL), a company in which PeerTV holds a 17.72% interest, has today reported to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that the development of its two joint projects with PTV are proceeding as planned and that it has completed the integration of its English Language Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system with the TV broadcast system of PeerTV.

The successful integration is an important technological milestone in the development of the two joint projects currently being pursued by SMHL and PTV as announced earlier in the year:

(a)  Remote Control Project - an advanced speech activated remote control unit for TV and other home entertainment systems using SMHL's ASR technology.

(b) Subtitling Project - an automated system to display in real time online subtitles on the TV screen       in either same language or translated language, enabling viewers to understand broadcasts not in their native language, without the need for prior subtitling.

The next step in the Remote Control Project will be undertaken by PTV. It will involve the development of speech recognition capability for the remote control unit to return operating commands to the set top box.

For the Subtitling Project the next steps will include the development by SMHL of real-time speech recognition specifically for TV content enabling transcription utilizing a cloud-based product solution.
