OREANDA-NEWS. Marking a significant milestone in the journey of Ford India’s Sanand Vehicle Assembly and Engine Plant, the OK to Buy date for the much-awaited Ford Figo Aspire was achieved by the plant team on July 28. The first batch of vehicles was then dispatched from the plant to dealerships across India.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Kel Kearns, site plant manager, Sanand Vehicle Assembly and Engine Plant, said, “The Ford Figo Aspire is the result of immense hard work, commitment and dedication by a truly global team. The shipment of the first batch is a truly momentous occasion for all of us. Credit goes to all of the cross-functional employees at the Sanand plant, those supporting in the region and South America, who have worked tirelessly to create this world-class product.”

The flag-off event was held at the recently completed vehicle yard, which has been constructed as per global standards and is controlled by the Materials, Planning and Logistics and Quality teams, through the Global Vehicle Distribution System.

The event was also attended by other senior management at the Sanand plant, including Dhiraj Dixit, assistant plant manager, Sanand Vehicle Assembly Plant; G. Senthil, area manager, Materials, Planning and Logistics; and OCM members.

Created specifically for India, the new Figo Aspire is an uncompromising, compact sedan that is set to delight consumers with its smart technology, advanced safety features, world-class quality and design, and responsive, efficient power.

The much-awaited sub-4 meter sedan will be launched in India on Aug. 12 and will be available in petrol and diesel variants.
