OREANDA-NEWS The construction of military equipment in Russia was carried out on its own, and it will continue, but now the country is switching to the production of fully import-substituted and civil aviation, Sergei Chemezov, head of Rostec, told reporters.
"Yes, we initially planned what we would do together in cooperation with our foreign partners. But, unfortunately, it didn't work out. All military equipment, as previously made by our own forces, continues to be used. Today we are switching to the production of fully import-substituted and civil aviation," he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a meeting to review the main parameters of the draft state armament program.
Chemezov recalled that initially Russia planned to build aircraft in cooperation with foreign colleagues, but after the imposition of sanctions in 2014, the country began extensive work on import substitution.
"And you can practically see the results for yourself. The MC-21 is a medium-range aircraft, fully import-substituted. We have installed our own engines, avionics, our own wing, and a composite one. All this has passed in just a few years. In 6-7 years, we have achieved what we have today. And I can say the same about the Superjet. It (initially - ed.) was created in cooperation with many countries. Today, the certification of our aircraft, fully import-substituted, with our own engine, with our avionics, is already coming to an end. In general, the kit is completely ours," Chemezov added.
He stressed that the situation is similar with helicopters. For example, Ansat was also created in cooperation with foreign companies. According to Chemezov, today the car received a new Russian-made engine, and it turned out to be better than the foreign one. Thanks to the new engine, the helicopter's flight range has increased and it has become more efficient, he added.
