OREANDA-NEWS Sugar production in Russia exceeded 6.3 million tons last year, which is enough to fully meet domestic needs and maintain a stable sugar situation, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported.

"In 2025, sugar production in Russia amounted to over 6.3 million tons. Such volumes are sufficient to fully meet the domestic needs of the country and maintain a stable sugar situation in the domestic market. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the level of self-sufficiency in 2025 was 104.9%, with the threshold value of the Food Security Doctrine of 90%," the report says.

According to the ministry, sugar beet harvest in 2025 amounted to 48.9 million tons, which is 8.5% more than in 2024. The average crop yield in the country increased by 5.7% to about 414.1 hundredweight per hectare.
