OREANDA-NEWS The Russian company MoloPak will launch the production of a packaging analogue of the Swedish-Swiss Tetra Pak corporation at a plant located in the city of Chekhov near Moscow. This is reported by Kommersant.
The initiator of the construction of the enterprise in the Moscow region was the aforementioned Russian company. The annual production capacity at the plant is expected to be 1.2 billion cartons. They can be used to store milk, juices and wine.
The range of products produced at the enterprise will include packages of volumes that were previously imported. We are talking about cardboard containers of 0.25, 0.33, 0.5 and 2 liters. MoloPak has already received a preferential loan for the project. The funds were provided by the Industrial Development Fund of the Russian Federation. The total volume of investments amounted to 1.3 billion rubles.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, a number of large Western manufacturers of aseptic (sterile) packaging left the Russian market. Tetra Pak's management did the same, in particular. It sold its Russian assets to local management. The Swedish-Swiss company's press service cited rising costs caused by disruptions in logistics as one of the reasons for leaving the market. As a result, the Western giant got rid of its plant near Moscow, among other things. Tetra Pak's successor in Russia is Packaging Systems. At the end of 2024, its representatives warned manufacturers in the Russian Federation about a sharp increase in prices for their products and services from January 1.
