OREANDA-NEWS The S7 Development Center company, which is part of the S7 group, which owns the airline of the same name, has frozen the construction of a plant in St. Petersburg for the production of parts for gas turbine aircraft engines, including foreign production. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to its sources.
It was assumed that the company would create a special economic zone (SEZ) at the Parnas site. The project, which was supposed to create 328 new jobs, provided for a production complex of 6.1 thousand square meters and an administrative building of 1.8 thousand square meters.
Investments in it were estimated at 7.5 billion rubles. The SEZ Expert Council approved it in February 2024, and the first stage of the plant was planned to be launched in the second quarter of 2027. According to the interlocutors of the publication, now all deadlines have been shifted significantly to the right, there are no new dates for the start or completion of construction.
S7 planned to produce blades for the hot part of gas turbine engines at the plant. The parts are needed both for the assembly of new ones and for the repair of ground and aircraft power plants. One such engine requires two to three thousand blades. The initiators of the project saw Power Machines and enterprises of the United Engine Corporation (UEC) as customers.
