OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has summed roaming activity results over May holidays. The number of subscribers who travelled abroad between 1 May and 9 May increased 67% compared to the same period last year.

The number of minutes used by Tele2 clients in international roaming increased 24%. The number of SMS sent by the operator’s clients abroad grew 5%. Internet traffic more than doubled compared to last year’s holidays.

Tele2 subscribers visited 168 countries. Most popular of them were Belorussia, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Germany, France and Spain. China has entered top ten of popular destinations for the first time. These countries were visited by 67% of all operator’s clients who travelled abroad on May vacations. Among new holiday destinations were long-haul getaways such as Fiji and Grenada, Paraguay, Kenia, Angola and other countries.

More active users of national roaming were Tele2 clients from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Chelyabinsk regions and the Perm Territory. They account for a third of dialed calls and sent SMS and over a half of Internet traffic downloaded by Tele2 subscribers in their travels around the world.
