OREANDA-NEWS European countries affected by the blackout could lose up to a billion euros if the situation lasts a week. The corresponding assessment was given by independent industrial expert Leonid Khazanov in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, the direct economic damage to Spain, Portugal and France is about 100-200 million euros per day. He noted that in the further absence of electricity, the amount "will grow like a snowball." "If the blackout continues for a week, the losses of the economies of the three countries may reach 0.8-1 billion euros. Indirect losses can be three to four times more," Khazanov concluded.
