OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of 2022, European countries replaced part of the gas that was not received from Russia, importing a record volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) — about 125 million tons. This was told to RIA Novosti by Sergey Kapitonov, an analyst at the Project Center for Energy Transfer and ESG of Skoltech.

"This year, the European Union has quite successfully replaced the volumes of Russian gas that have fallen out — about 80 billion cubic meters. They have been successfully replaced with liquefied natural gas from world markets," Kapitonov said.

According to him, LNG was primarily imported from the United States, the plants there are now almost entirely working for the European market.

The analyst also noted that Europe had been purchasing any other LNG shipments available on the market during the year.

Earlier it was also reported that the abnormal heat, with which Europe was lucky, helped the EU to save gas reserves in storage facilities at almost a record level in history.
