OREANDA-NEWS The Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) refinery, which is under US sanctions, has resumed oil refining, with the first shipments of petroleum products expected on January 27, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Jedovic-Handanovic said.

Sanctions against the Russian-Serbian "Oil Industry of Serbia" came into force on October 9. On January 1, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Treasury Department issued a temporary license for NIS operations until January 23.

"After a two-month pause, the production of petroleum products at the Pancevo refinery began today. Almost two thousand employees are working hard to get eurodiesel at gas stations from January 27," the head of the Serbian Ministry of Energy wrote on Instagram*.
