Russia has overtaken Norway in gas supplies to the EU

OREANDA-NEWS Russia rose to third place among the main gas suppliers to the EU in May, overtaking Norway, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of Eurostat data.
This was due to a sharp increase in LNG supplies — by a third, to 703 million euros. At the same time, imports of Russian pipeline gas increased by 6.4%, amounting to 408 million euros.
In total, the country supplied 1.1 billion euros worth of gas to the EU in May, which is almost a quarter more than the level a month earlier.
Norway, which was third in April, became fourth in May with a volume of 842 million euros due to a 13% decrease in supplies.
