OREANDA-NEWS The imported damper mechanism, previously introduced for gasoline, will be extended to diesel fuel. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Energy of Russia, published in the Telegram channel of the department.

Payments for such a damper will be made only if the country had a ban on the export of diesel fuel, kerosene and medium distillates in the previous month. The relevant amendments will be introduced into the Tax Code.

As explained by Minister Sergey Tsivilev, the solution will allow, if necessary, to quickly start supplying foreign-made diesel fuel to the domestic market.

The mechanism itself was introduced in Russia in January 2019. Its purpose is to compensate oil companies for lost profits if the export price of fuel is higher than in Russia, or to send to the budget excess profits received with the opposite picture of fuel prices.

Until recently, the damper applied only to Russian-made petroleum products, but two weeks ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the damper to gasoline imports amid fuel shortages in the country. A few days later, the government banned the export of diesel fuel to supply the domestic market.

Earlier it was reported that due to rising prices for gasoline and diesel fuel and problems with their availability, trucking from China to Russia increased in price by an average of 15-25 percent over the month.
