OREANDA-NEWS. Russian nuclear power plants (NPPs) have reached a new record for electricity generation, producing last year more than 208.7 billion kWh. This is stated in the message of Rosenergoatom, which is part of the electricity division of Rosatom. “In 2019, Russian nuclear power plants (branches of Rosenergoatom Concern) reached a new record for electricity generation - over 208.784 billion kilowatt-hours, increasing total generation and exceeding the achievement of 2018 (204.275 billion kWh) by more than 4.5 billion kWh", notes the concern.

Thus, in 2019, Russian nuclear power plants increased electricity production by 2.2% compared to 2018. Rosenergoatom notes that Rostov NPP (more than 33.8 billion kWh), Kalinin NPP (more than 31 billion kWh) and Balakovo NPP (about 30 billion kWh) generated the most electricity last year. At present, the share of nuclear generation is about 19% of the total electricity generation in the country. At the same time, the share of nuclear generation in the European part of the country reaches 40%.

The structure of Rosenergoatom includes all 10 nuclear plants in Russia, which are endowed with the status of branches, as well as enterprises that support the activities of the generating company. In total, 36 power units with a total installed capacity of 30.25 GW are in operation at Russian nuclear power plants.
