In Ireland and Denmark, prices were 40% higher than in other EU countries. Alcohol and tobacco were the most expensive in Ireland. The cost of these products is twice the average level in the 27 countries of the community.

In Denmark, the highest were the prices for hotel accommodation and restaurant bills. The cost is three times higher than in other European countries.

Dublin University economist Rory O'Farrell explained the high cost of consumer prices in these countries. According to him, the fact is that Ireland and Denmark are located on the periphery of Europe, so you have to take into account transportation costs. In addition, there is no fierce competition in these small countries.
