OREANDA-NEWS Aeroflot has cancelled flights to Tehran due to restrictions on Iran's airspace, and flights will resume after restrictions are lifted, the company said.
On Wednesday, Iran closed its airspace to transit flights over the central and western regions of the country.
"Due to the extension of restrictions (until July 10) at Tehran airport by the Iranian aviation authorities, Aeroflot is forced to adjust its schedule in this direction. Flights between Moscow and Tehran have been canceled until the restrictions are lifted," Aeroflot said.
They added that passengers are offered a forced refund of tickets or a reissue at a later date.
Aeroflot was supposed to resume flights to Tehran on July 4. The company started selling tickets in this direction on June 27.
On June 27, the Federal Air Transport Agency lifted the ban on flights for Russian companies in the airspace of Iraq, Iran and Jordan, imposed on June 13 and then extended until July 4.
On June 13, Israel launched an operation against Iran, accusing it of implementing a secret military nuclear program. The targets of aerial bombardments and raids by sabotage groups were nuclear facilities, generals, prominent nuclear physicists, and air bases.
Iran has denied the accusations, responding with its attacks. The parties exchanged blows for 12 days, which were joined by the United States, conducting a one-time attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on the night of June 22. After that, on the evening of June 23, Tehran launched missile attacks on the US Al-Udeid base in Qatar, stating that the Iranian side did not intend to escalate further.
