OREANDA-NEWS  The Georgian airline Georgian Airways has been secretly flying to Moscow from Tbilisi for more than a month with a small docking in Yerevan on unmarked planes.

Argumenty i Fakty columnist Georgy Zotov writes that he bought a ticket from Tbilisi to Moscow on the website of the Armenian airline Air Dilijans. The cost of the "trip" for 19 thousand 699 rubles in one direction, hand luggage and 23 kg of luggage are also included here.

According to the journalist, there is a short docking in Yerevan – only 30 minutes, and the plane does not have any identification marks. In the capital of Armenia, passengers flying from Tbilisi to Moscow were asked to stay in their seats and not go to the airport.

"The transfer in Yerevan is a formality," they explained to the passengers.

The observer notes that he actually flew on a direct flight. According to official information, Georgian Airways performs a "joint flight" with Air Dilijans, lands in Yerevan "for refueling" for half an hour, waits for more time, and then flies to Vnukovo.

The journalist writes that in flight they do not offer food even for money, they only give water.Recall that Russia canceled direct flights to Georgia after anti-Russian rallies in Tbilisi.

The chairman of the leading Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, said that Tbilisi would support the resumption of flights with Russia if Moscow makes such a decision. At the same time, the President of the republic Salome Zurabishvili spoke out against the launch of direct flights, calling, on the contrary, to tighten the rules for the stay of Russians in the country.

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed hope for the early resumption of air communication with Georgia, which was interrupted in 2019. The Minister recalled that contacts between residents of our countries are actively developing, and last year Georgia's GDP grew by 10% largely due to ties with Russia.

At the same time, the European Union has threatened Georgia with sanctions if it resumes direct flights with Russia.
