OREANDA-NEWS It would be fair to set a ceiling on taxi prices in bad weather. This proposal was made by Boris Chernyshov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Companies, the deputy stressed, should not forget about social responsibility and think about passengers who allow them to work and earn money. The latter have already developed a sign: if it's raining or snowing outside, get ready to pay at least one and a half times as much for a taxi ride.
"It would be fair if companies whose activities are related to taxis, as part of their social mission, set a ceiling for tariff increases in officially recorded adverse weather conditions. For example, a maximum of 50-70 percent. There is also a fixed fare for such cases for trips to airports, train stations and hospitals," Chernyshov explained.
Businesses can compensate taxi drivers for lost earnings and ensure that they do not reject such orders, the deputy concluded.
The head of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, issues of public and religious associations, Yana Lantratova, had previously proposed limiting prices. She proposed to reduce the commission and increase bonuses for drivers during high-demand hours in order to lower prices for children's fares. Currently, cars with child car seats are more expensive than regular ones due to the shortage of this category of taxi drivers.
