Russia has dramatically increased car purchases in China

OREANDA-NEWS In September, car imports from China to Russia increased sharply. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the Chinese customs.
Deliveries of passenger cars increased by a fifth month-on-month, to a maximum of $949 million since the beginning of the year, amid an expected increase in recycling fees. This result allowed Russia to remain the largest national market for Chinese manufacturers.
As for trucks, they were delivered 2.5 times more, for 85.4 million dollars. Even Rosstandart's decision to ban the import and sale of a number of Chinese Dongfeng, Foton, FAW and Sitrak truck models in the country did not prevent the intensification of imports. The current result is one and a half times more than the average before the restrictions came into force.
However, if we talk about imports since the beginning of the year, it has more than quadrupled — from 2.3 billion dollars to 522.6 million. In the case of passenger cars, sales fell 1.9 times.
The September result was recorded against the background of the transition of many Russian automakers to a four-day working week due to falling demand for products. At the same time, AvtoVAZ, the largest Russian manufacturer of passenger cars, announced its readiness to increase production of cars against the background of the imminent entry into force of the taxi law, which obliges market participants to use models from the government registry.
