OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the last summer month, total sales of medium-tonnage trucks in Russia decreased by 50.2 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The sharp drop in sales in this segment of the domestic car market is reported by Autostat with reference to its own statistical data.

During the reporting period, only 923 new vehicles with a lifting capacity of 3.5 to 16 tons (MCVs) were sold in the country, analysts said. In general, in the first eight months of this year, the total sales of such machines amounted to 7.9 thousand units. In annual terms, the indicator decreased by 45.2 percent.

Two domestic brands turned out to be the leaders of the Russian market in this segment. Gaz and KAMAZ together accounted for almost 65 percent of MCV sales in August. The models of the first concern sold 359 units, and the second — 237 units. The Gazon NEXT remains the most in-demand model in this segment, with a market share of 27.8 percent.

The crisis in this segment of the Russian car market has been evident for several months. By the end of July, MCV sales in the country dropped by 48.6 percent year-on-year. In August, the negative dynamics intensified. Analysts attribute this trend to a number of factors. Among the main reasons for the sharp drop in demand for trucks, they cite a decrease in demand for domestic cargo transportation and a cooling in the logistics services market. The situation is also influenced by the tight monetary policy of the Central Bank. Against this background, it is not necessary to expect an early recovery of the truck market in Russia, experts agree.
