OREANDA-NEWS. BBC reports that Tom Moore, a British veteran of the World War II, who will be 100 years old on April 30, have collected donations in the amount of more than 6 million pounds sterling for the National Health Service (NHA) to fight against coronavirus epidemic.

98 thousand people responded to a request for donations on the veteran’s website and transferred money to him. In order to attract donations, the retired captain of the British Army posted a photograph, in which he walks around his small garden in the county of Bedfordshire. Moore hopes to celebrate a century by completing 100 laps.

The veteran told that his initial goal was to collect 1 thousand pounds for the NHA, which cured him of cancer and a hip fracture.
