OREANDA-NEWS An overabundance of iPhones was found in Russia. As the Kommersant newspaper reported, this happened due to parallel imports and "uncontrolled deliveries".

Kommersant: parallel imports led to an oversupply of iPhones on the Russian market
The article says that Apple products are currently imported into Russia by all available means, so its quantity is off the scale. This led to a drop in demand for products from consumers. It is noted that before leaving the Russian market, the company independently controlled all deliveries.

In an interview with the publication, TelecomDaily CEO Denis Kuskov confirmed the current situation. In particular, the 13th and 14th series of smartphones began to enjoy less popularity than before.

"The supply of Apple smartphones exceeds the demand by about half," Kuskov said.

However, he doubted that along with the demand, the cost of the iPhone will decrease, since it depends, among other things, on the exchange rate.

At the same time, Kommersant reported that at the moment Apple products occupy 11% of the Russian smartphone market — 700 thousand devices were imported to Russia in the first quarter of 2023, which is 30% less than a year ago, when Apple officially suspended deliveries.

Earlier, a member of the Constitutional committee of the Federation Council of Russia, Artem Sheikin, said that Russians should definitely check their iPhones for viruses that can collect their personal information. He recalled that some time ago information about intentional infection of Apple devices was confirmed: the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents (NCCC) published on June 1 a report on an intelligence campaign by the US intelligence services, during which they infected thousands of smartphones to gain access to Russian users' data. The infection occurred when the user received a message with a special attachment that launched malicious code that gave the attacker unauthorized access to the device.
