OREANDA-NEWS Armenia has applied within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union in connection with the decision taken by the Russian side to impose restrictions on the import of Armenian products, Deputy Economy Minister Tigran Gasparyan told reporters.

"Not only our contacts with Russia are important here, but also our capabilities within the EAEU, as there are specific mechanisms that can be applied to eliminate such obstacles. We actively use these opportunities. We have filed a complaint and we hope and are confident that the mechanisms should work so that the obstacles can be removed," the deputy minister said.

Since June 12, the Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of all quarantined products from Armenia, as well as their transit through Russia to the EAEU member states. As the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, explained, the restrictions on the supply of Armenian agricultural products are related to the lack of effective quality control from producers, and not to politics. Local producers are already claiming major losses.
