OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with a delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), led by David Harris.  

In the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated David Harris on the awarding of Moldova’s Order of Honour. He highlighted the dynamic on the rise of the cooperation between Moldova and AJC, as well as the active role of the Jewish community in facilitating the Moldova – United States dialogue. Also, the prime minister congratulated the American Jewish Committee on the occasion of the marking of the 110th anniversary of this organisation’s foundation in 2016.    

”Moldova is a state with a rich cultural diversity; namely for this reason, we need a tolerant society. We have already a legislative framework which ensures the protection of minorities’ rights, and the policies promoted by the government are aimed at promoting tolerance and removing all forms of discrimination. At the same time, we are open for boosting the dialogue with all groups of national minorities, including the Jewish Community, in order to implement programmes of strengthening the society and social and economic development,” Pavel Filip said.    

For his part, the head of the delegation of the American Jewish Committee, David Harris, congratulated the Moldovan people on the 25th anniversary of proclamation of Independence, due to be marked on 27 August 2016, as well as on the occasion of the full entrance into force of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
