OREANDA-NEWS. The founder and former head of Microsoft Corporation, Bill Gates, denied conspiracy theories accusing him of involvement in the spread of coronavirus, and explained their occurrence by the fact that people want a simple explanation of what is happening.

According to the businessman, social media are spreading exciting information, and the pandemic makes people unsure of everything, so they want to receive a simple explanation of the events of recent times.

Reports saying that Gates is somehow connected to the creation of SARS-CoV-2 and wants to benefit from it began to appear in January. Those disseminating them cited a speech of the founder of Microsoft in 2015, during which he stated that the greatest threat to humanity is not nuclear war, but the emergence of a virus that could threaten the lives of millions of people. In addition, these rumours were fed by the allocation of 300 million US dollars by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to combat COVID-19 and develop a vaccine against the virus.
