OREANDA-NEWS  China has opposed the new tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. The statement by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian was quoted by TASS.

According to the official, China opposes unilateral duties in any form. Beijing is confident that tariff and trade wars are contrary to the interests of any of the participants. Lin Jian also assured of his country's consistent and clear position on trade and economic relations between Beijing and Washington.

Earlier it became known that the White House imposed double-digit duties on imports from 60 countries, explaining this by combating forced labor.

Canada, Australia and Brazil strongly disagreed with such accusations. Australian Trade Minister Don Farrell called the tariffs unjustified, while Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called them "arbitrary" and "unjustified."
