So, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian on Thursday commented on a report by the U.S. Department of State stating that China could secretly test low-power nuclear weapons in violation of its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).

"We always supported the goals and objectives of the CTBT and respected the moratorium on nuclear testing. We also made an important contribution to the work of the CTBT Preparatory Commission, and the work of monitoring stations has always been fully recognized by the secretariat of the commission", he said.

"The US rejects all these facts and makes unfounded accusations against China. This is irresponsible", Zhao Lijian added. According to the diplomat, the United States annually prepares such reports. "They take on the role of a judge and indict the policies of other countries in the field of arms limitation and non-proliferation", he said.
