OREANDA-NEWS The death toll in Nepal as a result of a landslide in the north of the country has risen to 951, China Central Television reported on Monday, citing the Nepalese police.

Earlier, 919 victims of the disaster were reported.

"According to the latest data released by the Nepalese police, as of 5 p.m. local time on August 31, the death toll from a landslide in Nepal has increased to 951 people," the TV channel said.

Flooding hit the northern regions of Nepal on Wednesday morning after a powerful stream of water from the Chinese side gushed into the Bhote Koshi River. The flood occurred after an earthquake and a landslide caused by it.
