OREANDA-NEWS  The leaders of the European Union (EU) will discuss who should speak on behalf of Europe in the negotiations on Ukraine during the summit to be held next week in Dublin. This was stated by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, according to Politico.

This is how he reacted to the demand of Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni to discuss the appointment of a chief negotiator who will represent the entire European union.

"I share your view that the EU should be properly involved in discussions that determine Europe's security and Ukraine's future. The EU's participation should be organized in such a way that it can deliver a clear and unified message, protect its interests and support Ukraine," The Guardian quoted Costa as saying.

Earlier, Meloni criticized Brussels' current approach to the peace process, which involves the participation of many different negotiators and the use of various formats to represent the interests of the bloc.
