OREANDA-NEWS   Europe does not know where to find the extra 70 billion euros for Ukraine. La Repubblica reports about the problem when searching for money, citing a senior representative of the European Council.

According to the source, the demand of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky took European officials by surprise, and they do not know where to get additional funds. The situation is complicated by the fact that a few months earlier, the EU had already barely agreed on the allocation of 90 billion euros to Ukraine in the coming years, while Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia refused to participate in the provision of money. It is becoming increasingly difficult for the authorities of other countries, especially those where elections will be held soon, to explain to voters the need for further financing of Kiev.

The European Commission (EC) has already approved the allocation of an additional 6.1 billion euros to Ukraine. The funds were used to purchase various defense products in the field of air and missile defense, ammunition, drones and electronic warfare. They were allocated as part of a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine.

Earlier, EU leaders failed to agree on additional financing for Ukraine in the amount of 70 billion euros for 2027. During the summit, Zelensky said that the country's military spending would increase to 155 billion euros next year.
