OREANDA-NEWS The relevant ministers of the member states of the European Space Agency (ESA) have agreed to subsidize the launches of the promising Ariane 6 rocket in the amount of 290 to 340 million euros. This is reported by the French newspaper Les Echos.

Officials came to a similar decision at a meeting that took place in Seville. Thanks to the additional financing of a promising rocket, its competitiveness in the international market increases. According to the agreement reached by the French, Italian and German ministers, the 42nd Ariane 6 launches will be supported from the 16th.

One of the goals of developing a new rocket, which should replace the decommissioned Ariane 5 carrier, was to achieve self-sufficiency of launches. "We have to state a failure on this point," ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher said.
