OREANDA-NEWS Lithuania does not intend to follow Latvia's example and impose a ban on bus passenger transportation to Russia and Belarus, Lithuanian Transport Minister Juras Taminskas told reporters on Wednesday.

"We will assess the situation soberly. We are always on the alert, constantly assessing the situation. Now we also do this periodically, but we will not make any sudden movements," Taminskas said, quoted by Lithuanian media.

As reported, on Monday, the Latvian Ministry of Transport announced the submission to the government of draft amendments to the Law on Road Transport, proposing a complete suspension of passenger traffic to Russia and Belarus from next year. According to the proposed amendments, regular and irregular international passenger transportation by bus to Russia and Belarus, as well as transit through Latvia to these countries, will be prohibited.
