OREANDA-NEWS For the first time, the Commission of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) investigated the incident with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of a helicopter type, the IAC press service reports.
According to the report, the incident occurred in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug on July 6, 2024, during the transportation of goods under an agreement between Gazpromneft-Supply LLC and Aeromax LLC. A TRN-01 type UAV (manufactured by NPP Strela JSC) was supposed to deliver mail from the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field to the A. Zhagrin field. However, communication was repeatedly lost during the flight, and then telemetry information stopped coming on board the aircraft. As a result, the drone collided with the water surface near the arrival landing area. No one was injured, but the UAV itself suffered significant damage.
According to the IAC, a special commission was formed to investigate the accident and a developer of an unmanned aircraft was involved. The investigation of the accident began on July 30 last year and lasted until June 10, 2025, the report says.
During the investigation, new methods of modeling the special situation in flight were used, which made it possible to recreate the circumstances of an aviation accident. The final report, approved based on the results of the work of the IAC commission, contains recommendations to aviation authorities, users and developers of unmanned aircraft systems. The recommendations are aimed at improving flight safety and preventing similar accidents in the future.
Currently, the IAC commissions are continuing to investigate two more accidents involving drones of various types.
