OREANDA-NEWS Four smugglers were caught at the Kenyan airport trying to take thousands of ants out of the country. This is reported by Reuters.
Two men from Belgium, a Vietnamese and a Kenyan, were caught at customs with 2,224 syringes and test tubes. There was cotton wool in each container and one or two ant queens were crawling. In total, the smugglers had about five thousand individuals with them. Their market price is approximately one million Kenyan shillings (630 thousand rubles).
During the investigation, it turned out that the tubes and syringes were designed for the ants to live there for about two months. They were made so that the airport security service would not pay attention to them. The smugglers planned to sell the insects to people who were passionate about formicaria, terrariums for ants.
