OREANDA-NEWS  The G7 countries will discuss supplies of rare earth metals in Washington on January 12. This is reported by Reuters.

"The finance ministers of the G7 countries will meet in Washington on January 12 to discuss the supply of rare earth metals," the statement said.

According to one of the agency's sources, one of the points of discussion will be the establishment of minimum prices for rare earth metals. It is noted that the G7 countries, with the exception of Japan, are largely or completely dependent on the supply of materials from China.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow considers the G7 to be an outdated and degrading format. According to him, Russia is not interested in restoring membership in the organization, but intends to develop cooperation within the framework of the G20.
