OREANDA-NEWS Google has blocked Google Workspace corporate services to several Russian companies that have fallen under US sanctions. This is reported by the newspaper Kommersant with reference to sources in two large IT companies.

Because of this, companies with data in Google Workspace (corporate mail, documents, disk, etc.) can now lose information if they have not backed up to alternative workspaces.

According to sources, the mass blocking began on the night of August 10 by Google.

"There is a risk of financial and reputational losses, almost all important documents and correspondence remained in Google's corporate storage," one of them noted.

In a newsletter that came to employees of Russian IT companies, Google argued for blocking "spam messages".

Kirill Vinokurov, head of the Softline cloud solutions development department (distributor of Google Workspace solutions), said that Google can block accounts for violating the rules for using services. So far, according to him, there has been no surge in blockages.

Earlier, journalists found out whether Google managed to abandon Russian metals.
