OREANDA-NEWS  The UK, apparently, wanted to send Ukraine several long-range missiles. This is reported by the American newspaper Washington Post with reference to a document posted by the International Fund for Support of Ukraine.

"In the procurement notice posted by the International Fund for Support of Ukraine on May 2 ..., the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom asked to "express interest" in providing strike capabilities with a range of up to 300 kilometers," the article says.

As the journalists noted, the British official said that no final decision had been made. At the same time, he refused to confirm to the publication the type, timing or quantity of the weapons in question. As the newspaper itself clarifies, the requested characteristics closely correspond to the British Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles.

In addition, journalists, citing leaked Pentagon documents, clarified that earlier US intelligence confirmed Britain's plans to send several Storm Shadow missiles to Kiev.

Earlier it was reported that British Foreign Minister James Cleverley will visit Washington on May 9 and hold a meeting with members of Congress and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. The central theme of the visit will be assistance to Kiev.

In addition, on May 5, the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom acknowledged the facts of resale of weapons supplied by the Kingdom to Ukraine before it got to the front line. As specified in the department, such incidents are "extremely rare." However, in order to exclude them and guarantee the transfer of all types of weapons and ammunition to the APU, "reliable control procedures" were established.
