OREANDA-NEWS Net migration to the UK has decreased by almost 80 percent in two years. This is reported by The New York Times (NYT).
"Long—term international net migration for the year ending in June 2025 was about two-thirds lower than a year earlier," the Office for National Statistics said in a report.
According to the report, net migration decreased to 204,000 people in 2025, compared with 649,000 a year earlier and almost one million in 2023.
At the same time, British Interior Minister Shabana Mahmoud, speaking in parliament last week, announced the introduction of new restrictive measures aimed at reducing legal immigration. "The pace and scale of migration in the country creates destabilizing pressure," she stressed.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he intends to suspend the migration flow to the United States of those arriving from third world countries. He stressed that he would cancel all federal benefits and subsidies for non-US citizens and deprive migrants of citizenship who "undermine order in society."
