OREANDA-NEWS Boris Titov, the presidential Commissioner for the Protection of the rights of entrepreneurs, suggested using prisoners more often to close vacancies at factories, since they are a "permanent, disciplined workforce," Interfax reports.

According to him, correctional centers of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) are being created directly at enterprises in the country since 2020. Those forced to work live there in dormitories under guard. In total, 1.7 thousand employers use prisoners, 26 thousand people are involved in the work.

However, the FSIN is ready to increase the supply, so Titov suggested that companies that cannot close vacancies in the labor market should pay more attention to prisons.

Earlier, the department reported that the labor of those sentenced to forced labor is in great demand among employers who face a shortage of personnel. For example, in 2022, almost 99 percent of the proposed resource was used. The FSIN stressed that this practice is becoming "an effective way to eliminate the shortage of labor resources."
