OREANDA-NEWS  Iranian air defense systems shot down several Israeli mini-drones in the sky over the city of Mashhad, located in the north-east of the Islamic Republic, the Iranian state agency Tasnim reports, citing the headquarters of the country's Armed Forces army.

"The Northeastern air defense network hit several targets of enemy UAVs belonging to Israel and prevented them from entering the city of Mashhad. The air defenses of the Iranian armed forces are on full alert and ready to repel any attack by the Israeli regime and agents," the statement said.

After the Israeli attack on Iran the day before, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promised to respond with force in an address to the nation.
